Default Can't Install 1TB Hard Drives

A work around that has worked for me was to format the brand new 1TB hdd
on another computer running windows. I had to connect the brand new one
as a secondary hard drive on a working system first, then open up disk
management and format the new hdd using NTFS file system. After it had
been formatted, I connected it back to the computer where I was setting
it up as the primary hdd, and voila! Windows finally successfully
installed, and without hitches! I think the 1TB disk space is too big
for the dvd media to handle as far as formatting is concerned, so you
have to help it out by using a formatted hdd in order for the
installation disc to proceed with the simpler tasks of copying,
expanding, and installing the windows files. I am not sure it makes any
sense to you, but I got it working that way, and I am hoping you will,
too.

If the motherboard uses an nvidia chipset it may be a driver issue.

I have several 1.5TB seagate drives that would not work with an evga 750i
motherboard. Recently they came out with a new version of the chipset
driver. Lo and behold, now the drives work perfectly.
