PS—I just switched to XP/SP 3 on the same machine and Catalyst extends

that the X1900 is simply incapable of doing this in Vista!

It appears from many websites that people have managed to get extended
desktop display working with both Vista 32 and Vista 64 so I guess the
question becomes what might prevent extended mode from working in
Vista with an X1900?

I just uninstalled CCC version 9.3 and installed the most recent
version, version 10.2 in my 64-bit Vista. Everything worked just fine
(screen 1 and screen 2 showed up in the screen display box and I was
able to extend the main screen onto the second monitor). Then I
rebooted and now I'm back to the same thing--I can clone but not
extend and "screen 2" doesn't appear in the screen display box.
