Okay. First things first. I don't know what my friend did to her computer but by the time I got to it, it would boot to where you should login and then show nothing but a blue screen (not the blue screen of death, though). She said she had someone else look at it who said the hard drive needed to be replaced. I told her I'd try something first. I'm trying to wipe her hard drive clean and put Vista on there. The first time through I got the message "Windows could not set the offline locale information. Error Code: 0x80FE0000." I did a couple Google searches and found lots of forums explaining what to do, but none of this has worked so far. My latest attempt involved me getting to the install screen, clicking install, putting in the product key and unchecking the automatically update box, accepting the license, and then clicking custom (advanced) installation. This brought me to the screen to pick the hard drive I wanted to install on. I formatted the partition i wanted, then tried to install, but I'm still having problems. Sometimes I get the same error, and once I got an error saying windows cannot access the the installation sources yada yada. Sorry for the wall of text. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- jaw0426 Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
