Now crossposted to microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail, for
reasons you'll see below. "Don" wrote in message ... "sheana" wrote in message ... Can you please tell me how to backup Windows Live Mail? I bought a new computer and would like to migrate all my messages to it. Thanks in advance. Check he How to backup windows live mail accounts, contacts, and messages. http://liveunplugged.spaces.live.com...90CA!174.entry -- Don Is anything similar available for restoring a Windows Mail account from a full backup in order to import it into Windows Live Mail on a machine where Windows Mail will no longer start and the list of previous backups has been lost by a hard drive replacement? There have been no successful backups on that machine since the hard drive replacement. The account to be restored was under a different user name, although with the same password, as my current account. A previous attempt to restore just the Windows Mail files from the old account failed because the backup/restore program could not find any sign that the backup was from the same machine. It appeared to restore nearly all the files, but not whatever was needed to make Windows Mail recognize that they were for the same user, which left the various index files unusable. I might be able to restore the list of previous backups if I knew where to find it - do you know where it is? Robert Miles |
