Got a few problems post install which I never had with Beta2. Note, this is
an install on a clean D partition. First and foremost, MS have not fixed the problem with the Realtek AC97 sound drivers they provide automatically. Go into anywhere like control panel and you get a pop up box saying that the sound drivers are not compatible with Vista. Why they are including the driver I do not know. I had to install the XP ones. Secondly I cannot run the performance rating tool. At the end of the assessment I get an error saying something like "assessment could not complete do to error reported from operating system, driver or some other component". I got this error on assessment before I changed the sound drivers and after. Lastly, I have a videocard problem. If I try and run the Windows DVD maker it gives a pop up to say my videocard does not meet the minimum requirements. My video chipset lists as Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Chipset Family (Microsoft Corporation - XDDM) - I have it set in the bios to use 128mb. If I go to DVD maker help topics it doesn't tell me what the minimum requirements are, it just tells me to check my details in the device manager. Can anyone assist with these please? I can send a feedback report, but I was looking for a quicker fix. |

So did I. I got a set of sound drivers that did not work from the Vista
install. So I just installed the sound driver the mobo manufacturer provides on their website for XP. The install routine for the mobo sound drivers is refused first time 'round, then Vista offers to install them again using some "compatible" settings. Once done the second time, the sound works.
