Slow transfer

Hi

I have Vista Ultimate networked to a XP Pro through
a Speedstream Ethernet Modem/Router which is said to
be a 100MB/Sec

When I transfer files or folder between the two PC's
the best speed I get is 700 KB/Sec.

Any ideas on what I can do to speed this up, could it be the AV or firewalls
slowing things up?
