Default Pre-RC1 Build 5336

I've installed this build to a virtual pc this time and it seems to run
faster than beta 2 did on a full install.

UAC has gotten less annoying and chose to leave this enabled.

Vista thinks I have an A: floppy drive, but I don't.

Still can't run glass on a mobile Intel 915gm/gms,910GML express chipset
card, maybe it's the VPC..I dunno.

In all I'm happy with this build on the surface, I choose not to wipe my
notebook again and reinstall everything again. Last month I removed Beta 2
and went back to XP so I could run server admin tools and other apps that
just wouldn't load even under compatibility mode.

I am wondering if MS is just settling with what they have got now to meet
the march 07 release. MS should take their time and release kick ass OS,
instead of rushing this out the door and then will release a service pack a
month after it's out to repair problems.....Microsoft...take your time.

Thanks for download though =)

You won't run glass on that graphics chipset until Intel write special
drivers for it. I have the same one, just have to stick with Aero Basic for
now.

Randy:

You cannot run glass under VPC, because the emulated video driver does
not support glass. The guest OS does not see the video card of the host,
so it makes no difference what it is.

Good to know, thanks.

I guess it doesn't matter anyway, the above posting by Beck confirms that
card isn't supported for glass yet.

Kind Regards

I agree with your comments on UAC.

Problem is, UAC is more off a pain when you first install as most users,
install, then do some tweaking so you get UAC prompts all over the place.

So.... I have left it on, I will see how I get on.

As for your floppy, check device manager, maybe you could disable it.
