I have installed Vista Ultimate on my computer, and my brother has Xp Pro.
I've installed LLTD protocol on the Xp machine and the Vista computer is set up for sharing and simple browsing ( no user name or passwords ) I see the XP computer in the Networks map, but i cannot click it. I can click mine, but not the XP computer. When i go to "Show computers and units" I can only see my computer. I cannot connect to him by using \\"computer name" either. I have no Norton, Mcafee, but i have AVG virus program and windows default firewall. We are both in the same workgroup also. Any solution ? Thanks in advance |

Yes, i can connect using the \\ipadress. But it takes ages to download from
him, and I mean in takes a long time while before it would take some minutes only. Also, i noticed that our IP adresses are different, like, i have "193.217" for two first numbers in the ip adress, while his computer has "193.216" . Can this have something to do with it? Hello
I have exactly the same issue. My PC Vista Home can see my laptop wireless (XP MCE2005 LLTD installed) but double-clicking on the machine icon in the vista network center indicate that the machine is not available. I cannot ping my laptop from vista but I CAN ping the vista PC from my laptop.... I have read various post on this subject but I have not found yet any working solution. Any help would be great.
