I am noticing a considerable performance issue when copying between two
laptops. First Vista calculates space but for very large shares it takes a very long time to return activity. When i look at Performance monitor it shows that network activity is passing through the adapter. I've rebooted both laptops twice and Explorer hangs while doing large copy processes. Just thought i'd mentioned to see if anyone else is experiencing a similar problem. Love the look of Vista, but I don't see any mass adoption happening soon. Too many problems. |

Yes I have seen similar behaviour. Initially when trying to copy a file from Vista to XP. Also when copying from Vista to Vista. Attempting to troubleshoot using robocopy - it appears that one of the machines drops off the network. However, it does not as I have other file transfers (P2P) related working correctly at the time. Also have problems connecting one Vista machine to an XP machine - states password is incorrect, even though a separate Vista machine is using the very same credentials to connect to the very same XP machine. Any chance this could be master browser related? I have seen random improvements depending upon which of my 4 machines (2 vista, 2 xp) is up and running. |
