I'd like to stream MP3s stored on my desktop PC running Vista with my laptop
running Windows XP SP2. On the XP laptop, using WMP 11, I select "media sharing" under the "library" option. But my Vista machine doesn't show up in the "share my media to:" list. I have turned on "media sharing" in the sharing section in the control panel on the Vista PC. What's strange is it works in the other direction: my Vista machine can stream the music stored on the XP laptop. Is this normal? Any on how to make the XP laptop "see" the Vista machine. |

M. Krantz,
Thanks for your post. I'm sorry you're having trouble. Sharing, permissions, and access have changed a bit in Vista to allow for greater security by default. Please review this TechNet article for the improvements in Vista, and for details on sharing: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/net.../vista_fp.mspx Please review that article, and follow the steps. Let us know if you still experience problems. Thanks "M. Krantz" wrote: I'd like to stream MP3s stored on my desktop PC running Vista with my laptop running Windows XP SP2. Im having the same issue, thankyou for the instructions you provided its
helped me to set up sharing for the public folder but hasn't solved the media sharing issue. If you want I could send you screengrabs of both machines network settings and media sharing settings to show you the problems we are having. "Kim [MS]" wrote: M. Krantz, Thanks for your post.
