During the installation Vista should have checked for any available update
if you were connected to the Internet so by running WinUpdate from within
Vista probably won't find any new ones.

I was experiencing this problem when using GPO to Windows Update through
SUS Server. After I disabled this GPO setting I was able to download.

GPO it´s from Group Policy Object. If you Windows Vista is part of a
Active Directory (AD) forest, you you probally have a GPO forcing your
Vista to request all updates from a SUS/WSUS server on your network. To
disable it you will need do this on AD, if you have credentials for it,
if not you will need to request this to AD administrator of you
network.

get a mac next time, and you will never experience rudimentary problems
like that.

Yeah, because absolutely NO one had any trouble upgrading from OS 9 to
OS X, did they? What a clueless troll you are!
