Default Windows Aero

i've just had a new computer with windows vista home premium and it was
working fine with all the window switching, aero stuff then i installed my
camera software with quicktime and it has said that the program qttask.exe
has performed an action that requires windows to temporarily change my color
scheme back to windows vista basic and it will change it back when this
program or other programs performing similar actions are no longer running.

I know how to change it back to windows aero (32bit color, 60hz monitor
refresh rate, windows vista theme, windows aero color scheme and enable
transparency) but when i go to change the color scheme to windows aero it
won't stay and reverts back to windows vista basic so i can't then choose to
enable transparency.

i've tried uninstalling quicktime but it won't allow that either as it says
that a program or control panel which uses quicktime is running.

i've got all the minimum requirements and hardware requirements because it
was working fine.

i would really love for it to work again properly!
any suggestions...please!

One way might be to stop this is to go to start -then type msconfig. Uncheck
qtime from loading up into windows at the startup tab.
