Ok I have the words "local and internet" showing in here, I need to know how
to change from that to showing "local only" and back again. What steps are there to do this? |

If you don't want the internet, just unplug the internet connection.

Since that's based on our detection of whether you're connected to the
Internet, disconnect your network from the Internet and we'll stop detecting it. ;-) "butler" a écrit dans le message de news ![]() Ok I have the words "local and internet" showing in here, I need to know how to change from that to showing "local only" and back again. Why do you want to know how to get it to show local only?

Let's clarify one thing, first -- are you successfully connected to the
Internet and Vista isn't recognizing that, or are you experiencing connection problems? If the latter, right-click the Network icon and choose "Diagnose," then see what it suggests. Yea, I ahve run that and it says that there may be a problem with my DNS
server. I have the same DNS server as another computer on the same network I am trying to connect the new laptop to. Any ideas??? What should those settings be. "Michael A. A few questions:
1. Am I right in thinking that you have a network connection but are unable to access the Internet? 2. And IE is unable to download web pages? 3. What is the output from "ipconfig /all"? Morning.
You are right in your assumptions. 1. I do have a network connection, but am not able to connect to the internet 2. IE (or Firefox) is unable to download anything 3. Output of ipconfig/all as below. The diagnose and repair functioncomes out as "There may be a problem with your Domain Name Server (DNS) configuration" but I cant figure it out. I have also removed all antivirus (AVG Free) and tried that. No differnace so have re-installed. I have wireless, but have been leaving that turned off and just trying to get Earthnet working, then worry about wireless. Thanks for your help. ******************START**************** Microsoft Windows [Version 6.0.6000] Copyright (c) 2006 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved. Your IP and gateway are both in the 172.18.250.x range. Your DNS server is
in 172.19.250.x. Are you sure it shouldn't be 172.18.250.7? "azza" a écrit dans le message de ... Morning. You are right in your assumptions. 1.
