Default Aero not enabled?

Hi, Running Vista Ultimate 32Bit, scores are as follows: CPU - 4.3, Ram -
4.5, Graphics - 5.9, Gaming - 4.9, HDD - 5.2.

I am running a ATI Radeon X800GT, With a 3.2Ghz P4 CPU and a gig of DDR2
Memory, no matter what I do I am not getting an option for Aero in Windows
Color and Apperance.

Has anyone got any ideas????

Thanks

Join the Club. I have an X800GT in a bag next to my vista PC. Could not get
Aero to work despite latest ATI drivers etc. Gave up and put in a radeon
X1650 with no problems. I needed to get a card with dual link DVI anyway...

Do you have 2 512MB DDR2 Dim or 1 1GB DDR2 Dim? There have been several
reports of Aero not running unless you have a pair of DDR2 chips.

where did you hear or read this? I got 1 GB of RAM, 2.00GHZ and new
X1650 Pro. I can't enable AERO.

Maybe I missed the start of this thread, don't know. But processor and RAM
are largely irrelevant. It's all about the video card. See page below and
links from the

http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...a2fbf1033.mspx

Is the problem that you can't choose Windows Vista as your theme in
Personalization?

Default Aero not enabled?

In another thread 2-3 weeks ago the OP for the thread tryid many suggestions
from many users that support this newsgroup and none of the suggestins
solved his problem.
He himself finally found out that as long as he used a pair of 512MB DDR2
Dimms or a pair of 1GB Dimms Aero worked fine. But if if he used a pair of
512MB dimms and a single 1GB Dimm he could not run Aero.
None of us could explain why this was true since there is no reference to
this "requirement" in any documentation.
