Default Vista Clock Chime

Does anyone know how to disable the hourly and half hour chime that sounds
like a grandfather clock. I just bought a new Dell Laptop (Inspiron 1501)
and the chime is getting annoying.

I have tried to look in every settings possible and have found nothing about
a chime or alarms.

Thank You

Seeing as how that is NOT a part of Vista, you will have to contact Dell for
the information.

Check the Grandfather clock in the next room? Vista doesn't have a clock
chime so it's some 3rd party software. Check all he sound events in Control
Panel | Hardware and Sound | Sound - Change system sounds. If it's in there
change it.

Not having said featu :/

Did you right click on the clock (in sidebar, not task bar) and check
its options?
There isn't a sound setting for *a* clock in the "sounds" settings?

Is there a bong sound file in \windows\media that if all else fails,
you could rename (or delete)?

It was on the computer as I got it OEM from Dell. I have used Dell Tech
Support and also DellConnect and they have no idea what it is. There is no
sound for it in the system sounds, nor any settings if I right click on the
clock.

Oh well mute works too.

Brain(?):
Check the Task Scheduler for odd tasks.
Check Windows Calendar reminders (options: play sound)
