Default Unable to ping 'clearly visible' machine

Unable to connect to my mobile through vista.

Mobile = XP , done all the usual stuff.

Mobile can see Vista machine no probs (browsing and sharing) and Vista
machine maps the mobile but can't browse or share.

I can see the mobile in Net View but can't ping it (see following)

C:\Users\usernet view
Server Name Remark

--------------------------------------------------------------
\\ADDERLEYHOME Main Business Computer
\\ADDERLEYMOBILE1 Dell Inspiron 1300
\\ADDERLEYVISTA1 Main Home Computer
The command completed successfully.

C:\Users\userping 10.1.1.3

Pinging 10.1.1.3 with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 10.1.1.3:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

The Dell Inspiron is the one I can't browse in Vista - ip 10.1.1.3
Adderleyhome is exactly the same - can 'see' in Net View but can't ping.

Help !

If you can connect to it to share but cannot ping it, there's probably at
least one firewall blocking pings in your network. I believe XP can do this
but it may not be default, Vista does by default, and any third party
firewall may or may not block pings by default.
