Ok, I was forced into purchasing a HP PC with Vista. I asked, and asked
again before buying to be sure it would network with all 7 other XP Pro computers I have in our office, and it dosen't see the network. I run the network wizard and the only reasonable option is for wireless, which I don't have. Anybody have any experience with networking Visa to XP. What am I doing wrong. It sees the internet fine on our network, but no other PC's. Please help! I have an employee starting tomorrow and need his PC ready. Thanks! Brian Denny |

Hi Brian
Hope this helps you out. Vista names the workgroup with a different name than XP did, the names need to be the same also the firewall that comes with vista either the windows or whatever makes networking difficult. Try tuning it off to see it you can get the network setup if that helps then determine what you want to do with the firewall later. Also seems to take a few minutes to see the other comuter for the first time. Craig "Brian Denny" wrote: Ok, I was forced into purchasing a HP PC with Vista. I'm having the same problem. I changed the workgroup name from "WORKGROUP" to
the one like all the XP and 2000 computers and I can't see any of them. Only the Vista PC. I'll try the firewall thing and see what happens. Thanks -Norman "Brian Denny" wrote: Ok, I was forced into purchasing a HP PC with Vista. I tried disabling the firewall and I am able to see only the Windows 2000
(SP4) and a Panasonic laser printer (drivers not available yet, but beside the point) It wont show any XP computers, but I'm gonna try the LLTD responder fix and see what happens.
