I have a Dell Inspiron 6000, and just upgraded to 5536 from 5384. The audio
service is working in windows, and audio output is great from the laptops internal speakers- but when you plug in any external speakers to the jack, there is no output, at any volume. I had the most updated SigmaTel drivers from Dell, and this problem was not happening in Beta 2 (5384). Any suggestions? Any help is appericated. |

Line Out is not one of the options to control like it was in Windows XP-
there is just a speaker control adjuster. "Beck" wrote: "rbyrd8100" wrote in message ... I have a Dell Inspiron 6000, and just upgraded to 5536 from 5384. rbyrd8100:
Right click the speaker in the right side tray on the task bar. You should see "playback devices", left click to see what devices are enabled and enable devices as necessary. No, nothing is muted.
Its not just speakers either, anything plugged into the headphones jack has no sound output. It has got to be a setting or something, but i cant figure it out. Dell wont support it because its a beta operating system- their tech support is useless anyways. "Beck" wrote: "rbyrd8100" wrote in message ... Did that- the only item listed is "speakers" and they are enabled. That is
the only item listed in the dialog box, even with "show disabled and disconnected devices" "Dennis Pack x64, v64B2 (5384), OPP2007B2" wrote: rbyrd8100: Right click the speaker in the right side tray on the task bar. yes, i was able to fix the problem myself by downloading the windows XP audio
driver applicible to my computer from dell's website- once installed, the audio output works great. Windows update will later tell you that there is a audio driver update available, but DO NOT DOWNLOAD because it will take you back to the same problem you are currently having. Did you try the update after installing the XP drivers?
My sound did not work, either. Nor, did the update that Microsoft said was available. However, after installing the XP drivers the sound worked great. I was once again notified by Windows Update there were new drivers for my sound card. Being curious, I installed the update. The sound still worked. I don't notice any difference. This same scenario was done on 5384, 5536, 5572, and now RC1. I had no sound on this laptop until I used the XP drivers, after installing the XP drivers- the update also worked. -Michael "rbyrd8100" wrote in message ... yes, i was able to fix the problem myself by downloading the windows XP audio driver applicible to my computer from dell's website- once installed, the audio output works great.
