Incorrectly recognizing Plextor CD-RW as CD-R
Hi all,
For some reason, Vista is recognizing my SCSI Plextor 40/12/40S CD-RW drive as a "PLEXTOR CD-R PX-W4012S". So, I can use it as a CD-R in Vista and Media Player, but not as a CD-RW (i.e. I can't erase discs or use rewritable discs). It definitely does have CD-RW capabilities because I can use it as such in Nero, and have used it in XP to do the same. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks, Matt. |

There aren't any drivers... it's a drive attached to an SCSI controller,
so the SCSI controller driver is all I need. Matt. In article , says... Have u tried to get an updated driver from Plextor? "mbg" wrote in message om... There may not be drivers for the Plextor but have you checked for their
firmware updates -- those affect recognition of media. They are up to version 1.04 now and I see: Version 1.03 Download (File Size: 467KB) Date posted: July 18, 2003 Added support for newer CD-R/RW media. The firmware updates are cumulative. If you are scsi connected (I have a fair amount on board) check out this Adaptec website if you are using Adaptec controllers and see if your card is supported in VISTA: http://adaptec-tic.adaptec.com/cgi- bin/adaptec_tic.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php? p_faqid=14790&p_created=1160005296&p_sid=GNBSt- ui&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWR zb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9 MTM0JnBfcHJvZHM9MTMyLCx2Mj4mcF9jYXRzPTAmcF9wdj0yLj E0MyZwX2N2PSZwX3NlYXJ jaF90eXBlPWFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfcGFnZT0x&p_li =&p_topview=1 Sorry about the URL -- if it does not work when you click on it, try clicking on the last line and if that does not work go to the Adaptec website / Support / Scsi software / http://www.adaptec.com/en-US/support...SPI/ASPI-4.70/ and click on the link at See all Knowledgebase articles Windows ASPI Package View articles Then select the first listing. |
