Default vista and the sims help

i resently found a old copy of the sims and i wanted to show my GF how much
better it is for the pc than the ps2.
When i instal the sims it works fine and no problems, i run the game when
i'm done, that when i go play it the second time it starts to load then
crashes and goes back to the desktop.
I know it's a long shot but does anyone know how to fix it?

thanks

Erin, I sims2 games and I had to get the patches for all of the games. I am
not sure which version of sims you have, but if you have sims2 go to
http://thesims2.ea.com, and then to help for the patches. I hope this will
help.

I also installed it ok but it won't work even trying in in XP mode. So I
would also like someone to give me some advice on this. (should it be Win98
mode even?

I can load and get the neighbourhood screens ok and can access the houses
etc. but I create Sims and try to place them but they then disappear
entirely.

Is the problem that the "My Documents" folder is no longer named that in
Vista and all the connections and folders are misdirected?

They seemed to be in some type of "roaming" folder, not the usual ones I am
used to.

I also have the same problem when i play sims deluxe edition with makin
magic it gets to the first loaing screen then (It has come to our
attention that you have installed another sims expantion pack after The
Sims Makin' Magic. For this to work properly, The Sims Makin' Magic
installer will now update your installation. Select OK to proceed) then
it unistalles deluxe and makin magic and i installed deluxe b4 i
installed makin magic, called geek quad thay recommended i download the
sevice pack 2 since xp was a service pack 2did that and no diffrence
