I blocked 2 programs from starting up for 3 to 4 days. 2 Days ago I checked
them to allow them to boot on startup using the "system configuration" utility in vista, but on every boot it starts up saying windows is blocking some startup programs. When I go to start them up the boxes are checked and under the tab general "normal startup" is selected. Any help would be appreciated. |

I believe the startup item being blocked is the System Configuration Utility
itself, and the blocker is Windows Defender. Turn off Real-time Protection in Defender (Tools Options), and then Reboot. When the desktop appears, tell the prompt that shows up from Msconfig to not run at startup anymore (put a check in the box). You can then turn real-time protection back on in Defender. I've had Window's defender turned off since first install. I'm using Norton
Internet Security. Should I try that anyways even if I'm using Norton? Thanks' "Dean-Dean" wrote in message ... In Defender ( Tools Software Explorer), are any startup items shown as
being disabled? In Defender ( History), are there programs shown as having been blocked? "Greg" wrote: I've had Window's defender turned off since first install. I'm using Norton Internet Security. No, to both questions. I also tried your first suggestion with the same
results. The msconfig utility starts up at every boot saying windows has blocked some programs from running but all are checked and normal boot is selected. I can't figure out why. Thank you for your help. "Dean-Dean" wrote in message news ![]() In Defender ( Tools Software Explorer), are any startup items shown as being disabled?
