If you purchased the laptop on or after 10/26/06 you should be able to
upgrade for about $10.00. Check the laptop manufacturer website for details.

It usually depends on the vendor. My OEM version of XP let's me upgrade to
Vista for $59 for Home Basic and $79 for Home Premium.

I would love to hear of just one person who has received their free
upgrade. I have been waiting 2 months now. My upgrade was accepted
after they received the receipt for my new PC.

If you have purchased the laptop from Microsoft partners like Dell, acer etc.
between October 26, 2006 and March 15, 2007 then you are eligible for
Express upgrade to Vista. It is not free entirely free, you have to just pay
minimal Shipping & Handling ,Charges.

Please visit the below site for more details

Thanks
