Good Evening, I just upgraded windows XP on my laptop to Windows Vista
Ultimate... for some reason I been having issues with my internet connection on the laptop... the internet connection goes in and out... (disconnecting, reconnecting) I have tried disabling the firewall both with One Care Live, and McAfee Virus Scan. I try using both the eithernet or the wireless internet connections and the issue occurs on both. I have 3 desktops and 1 Laptop... all are connected through my DLINK G624 Wireless Router... the three desktop work fine... and they are all connected to my home network... but connecting to the other computers is fine.. it's jus the internet... any suggestions would help! Thank you! |

Can you ping a public IP when that happens? If yes, can you ping yahoo.com?

I have been experiencing what sounds like a similar experience. Although
yesterday it began even worse. My Vista system would only connect to local, and had lost any ability to connect to the internet (not just sporadically). On further inspection I found it had lost the gateway. I initially suspected a firewall issue too, but after turning off, it didn't go away. I finally resorted to removing my Linksys wireless N adapter, rebooted without the card, shut down and added the card again. This resulted apparently in rediscovering and all seemed well. However, after accessing email either through Outlook 2002 or "Windows Mail" in Vista, I loose connectivity on IE until I reboot, all appears well as long as I don't access them. I will follow up searching the suggested sites below, but would appreciate any other suggestions as well. "Robert L [MVP - Networking]" wrote: Can you ping a public IP when that happens? I have a similar issue my 3COM ADSL wireless/firewall/router frequently
disconnects and looses sync (as witnessed by the front panel lamps). This has only started since I made a wired connection to a new VISTA computer. I have scoured all the notes in the links given but can find nothing relevant. I also had a devil of a job getting sharing going between a couple of other XP machines. It seems to come and go when you view the Network folder. Strangely connections to netwroked printers was simplicity and stable. Anyhints as to why the router connection has become so flaky gratefully accepted. -- Oldie but not past it "Robert L [MVP - Networking]" wrote: Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com |

I have similar problems since installing Vista. My DSL connections works
fine unless I try to use another program that access the internet such as my p2p program. Once I allow that program to run, my IE will say page can not be found even the task bar shows I am still connected to the internet. I have to diagnose the program and do a "ping" which sometimes works and sometimes does not. Please note that I have put the program on the exceptions list for my McAfee program and for my windows firewall as well for full access to the internet so I can't figure out why I have this connectivity issue. Please help. "Peter" wrote: I have a similar issue my 3COM ADSL wireless/firewall/router frequently disconnects and looses sync (as witnessed by the front panel lamps). I seem to have the same kind of issue. In the last few weeks since I got
this Vista machine, it's always popping up dialogs saying that it has to dial for a new connection. Yahoo mail seems to be good at provoking this flaky behaviour. I keep having to restart Yahoo mail anew. It just gets into a weird state where the network processes behind the scenes are just not working properly. I would really like to think that someone at Microsoft or Yahoo is working hard to isolate and fix whatever is causing this. "limonthas" wrote: I have similar problems since installing Vista.
