Hey, I'm about ready to tear my hair out on this one.

I get about 4 to 5 DVD burned during the "Complete PC Backup" process coming
back into my computer room to swap DVD disk's for the backup process, but
come back to find after 4 to 5 disks, the computer has re-booted!

Disks show files on them, except for the last one. "empty", no over-heating
issues on tower, no incomplete back up showing, nada, nothing, have to
restart the backup. Happended a second time on 5th disk.

Any solutions?

Do you see any events in the event log? Does it write out a crash dump in
%SystemRoot% (Usually C:\Windows\) It is usually called memory.dmp .

yes the file is there in the c:windows directory but can't get open/ or read
with anything.

If you have a dump file, chances are good it was able to write an event in
the event log, dig around in there. You can also look at the Reliability and
Performance monitor (search for reliability in the windows search box). In
there is a track of crashes and reboots. You can drill down to the events
logged in the event log. Look under the windows failures section in the
reliability monitor. If it is a driver, it should log what driver caused the
crash.

The only way I know to read the dmp files is with the kernel debugger.
That's a whole learning experience in and of itself. Not a trivial task.

Well I can't read the dump file either, the realiability monitor program does
not show a error for this one, other are in there though for other programs.

I did manage to get a backup saved to another usb drive, it completed
normally, still would like to save to a dvd though, must be a overheating
issue with the dvd drive I guess, causes the machine to reboot.

Only thing I can think of is to burn about 3 disks, stop and wait on the
"insert disk" dialog and give the dvd burner time to cool down?
