Default Speeding Vista up - increasing its performance!

No, I don't have answers, I am hoping to entice people who have ideas into
saying what works, no matter if that means turning features off or not.

One thing I did to make a HUGE difference is to turn search indexing off and
remove indexing from all drives. That makes the machine a real lot faster
but makes searches, which I rarely do, slower. I would recommend that, if
you want a faster Vista, you do that.

More recommendations please?

Default Speeding Vista up - increasing its performance!



Right click on the Computer icon and choose "Properties"
In the right hand pane click on "Advanced system settings"
Click on the "Advanced" tab
Under Performance click on "Settings"
You can set it to "Adjust for best performance" which I don't like the looks
of,
instead turn off everything that says Animate, Fade, or Slide and Vista
will look the same with added performance.
