Me ( and as I see in web some others too) don't get it running: WEBDAV + VISTA.
The "Add network location" wizard is buried (you get to it through "Map Network Drive", e.g., rt-click "Computer", select "Map Network Drive", click "Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures"). From here, things look familiar. But entering my webdav URL to folder gives me an error message "The folder you entered does not appear to be valid. Please choose another." I tried the same URL in Mac and XP and it worked. So maybe Vista is munging the authentication in a new and different way? I've tried different, anonymous access too. Nothing worked. In IE7 the WEBDAV folder is displayed correctly under Vista. Host is Windows 2003 Server, no magic. Anyway, looking forward to the workaround ;-) Frank |

Frank - can you try a net use * in command prompt to the same URL and let me
know the output? net use * url Also, what type of auth is the share using? NTLM (Integrated) / Basic / Anonymous? If I could reproduce the error, then I would love to investigate. I was finally able to access WebDav from Vista after installing a software update. You can google Software Update for Web Folders (KB907306) to get to the page. Once installed, I had no problem connecting. However, this solution only appears to work with 32 bit Vista. I still couldn't make 64 bit Vista or Server 2003 connect. If anyone knows a solution for either of those two, that would be nice to know. -- veganmessiah Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
