Default PCI adapter

hey
i installed vista on my computer but it did't installed my LAN i.e. "ADMtek
AN983 10/100 PCI adapter " driver automatically . I installed the driver
through a cd which came with it , but the driver which i installed was not
compitable with vista but it was compitable with windows XP ... so please can
you tell me from where i can download the drivers which are compitable with
windows vista ...

You would get the drivers from either the motherboard mftr. (if your NIC
is onboard) or from the NIC mftr.'s website. If there are no drivers for
Vista and the XP ones won't work, if you have a desktop simply throw in
a PCI NIC that you know is compatible with Vista. Basic NIC's are under
$20. If you do this, disable the onboard adapter in the BIOS.

Also, try going to Device Manager (Start "devmgmt.msc"), right-clicking
your NIC, and selecting "Update Driver..." Have Vista check the CD or any
folder the driver installer created including subfolders; you can usually
use an XP driver with Vista, but many installation programs refuse to
install on a version of Windows they don't recognize. You can bypass that
by letting Vista install the driver.
