Default copy file issue

I went to back up my win 2000 partition today and only 2.5 gig out of 8 gig
copied. I opened the drive in my computer used select all and copy.

I installed a new sata hd for vista and dula boot works well. however my
w2k partition was too small, so I wanted to back it up prior to extending it
by deleting the data partion next to it.

Fortunately there were no problems with extending the partition as I went
ahead despite the partial backup. I had software for windows xp to create an
image but that didn't work and the uninstall on that hung the computer with
100% cpu until I logged out and rebooted to shut that down.

My tax software from the Australian Government doesn't work on vista so I'll
have to keep the W2k going in the meantime.
