Default dvb-tv stick not recognised in vista

I have installed the drivers for vista for a tv stick, when i connect the
stick to usb it says device installed and ready to use, but then 10 seconds
later it says usb not recognised. And then it doesnt work. I am supposed to
have a hid compliant and usb human interface driver and also a dvb-t stick
driver in sound and game controllers in device manager, i can see the 1st two
drivers but not the one under sound controller.
Anyone have any suggestions please?
