Default wireless security discrepency

I have a Belkin wirelessG router that I had configured as an access point
using WPA and not broadcasting SSID. It worked fine with my PDA. I have a
sepearrate router that does not have wireless capability. I bought a new
laptop with windows Vista home Premium. I could not get it to connect to the
access point even after entering the correct passphrase. Vista has entries
for TKIP or AES, but the router only has 802.1x or password(psk). I guess I
could revert to using WEP only.

My question: What entries are compatible between Vista and the Belkin router
regarding security measures? I don't like using an unsecured wireless system.
