Default Resource Monitor - system becomes unresponsive /netowkr

I loved watching him on David Letterman -Dave was always spraying a fire
extinguisher on him

I have had great luck with Vista Ultimate other than if I open the Resource
Monitor it begins to show data, but then my system become unresponsive. My
mouse cursor works, and an alt-ctrl-del after about 60 seconds responds to
the input and I can stop the task and my system works again.

I did notice that the network utilization showed what looked like an
overflow: -212312412421% (this is not exactly what it reported, but it looked
like an overflow issue)

I also noticed in the normal view for network utilization it oscillates form
0% - 100% continuously. I suppose I'll see about reinstalling the network
drivers from my ABIT mobo. (Av8-3rd eye)

any other suggestions?
