Well its been traumatic. I've had a new tablet PC (hp pavilion tx 1000) for a
little over 2 weeks and have never had so many problems - and i've been through every windows upgrade since 3.1. Now that i have that off my chest.... My problems a Fairly regular crashes and blue screens (about 4 so far) Systyem freezes - about 8 System will freeze on shut down (about 4 times) excessively slow startup ........and general low speed (it took me 5 minutes to print the other day!). This laptop has a pretty good spec - big old processor, 2 gig of ram..... That is just the start of the problems - wirless not detecting things, network connection problems (when i move from network to network). ....now i've found the resource monitor (pretty cool) and have noticed that the cpu and the hard drive are going wild. Thats a start i guess - but would love some guidance from here. if not - thinking about seeing what will happen if i throw this out my window from the 5th floor. looking forward to any suggestions |

"Robert Moir" wrote in message ... Excellent points, Robert, specifically.... If the machine was purchased brand new with Vista installed as you imply above, then I suggest you return it as faulty - what you describe *could* be down to hardware issues as easily as anything else. Get a replacement from them and if it still misbehaves, get a refund and buy a different model. The only reason hardware and software manufacturers supply computers that don't work properly is because people accept them that way. Off-the-shelf computers, whether they're desktops, laptops or tablets, often have lots of crap loaded on them. Sometimes the programs conflict with each other and sometimes they conflict with the OS. Since you apparently do not know if the same machine works flawlessly with XP, then it's too early to blame Vista. It could be Vista IS the problem, but so far you haven't ruled out alternative explanations for the problem. In any case, you've purchased something brand new for a lot of money. If you purchased a new car and it did the automotive version of behaving like this, would you take it back to the garage? Or, would you blame the car's problems on the gasoline you filled it up with? |

In the first paragraph you talk about a tablet PC.
In the third paragraph you talk about a laptop - different animals. You also state that the laptop has a big "OLD" processor. How old? You are having problems with two different computers? Perhaps you installed the same software on each one that is causing the problem????? Calm down. Stop being so dramatic - and try to tell us exactly what is wrong with each one, if in fact there are two involved. -- Regards, Richard Urban MVP Microsoft Windows Shell/User "dramas dramas dramas" dramas dramas wrote in message ...
