I installed Nikon's updated viewer for RAW files and notice odd behavior.
All of the thumbnails will generate (quite fast which is nice) but as soon as the last one is done, poof, they all disappear. Sometimes a thumbnail that's only showing "half" (i.e. the window border cuts it off) will stay up, but otherwise all the others vanish. This does not happen for JPGs, only the Nikon RAW. Any ideas are appreciated. I've had this behavior before in XP but I've never been able to figure out what might be the cause. I'm an advanced user, so registry hacking is no problem. |

I have the same problem except it doesn't matter what file type it is. All of them generate quickly and then disappear. It is my job to know what causes this and I haven't the slightest idea. I have the same issue on one of my test machines with no common software between them except for Office. One is Vista Ultimate and one is Vista Business. I have already tried deleting the thumbnail files, changing the layout of the page, and changing the views. If there's a registry key that would fix this I'd love to find it. Doubt it though, a registry setting wouldn't cause it to be so sporadic. -- lokibjensen ------------------------------------------------------------------------ lokibjensen's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=23989 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=705320 http://forums.techarena.in |

I have the same thing happening: Windows Vista, all updates applied. When I am viewing jpg thumbnails in Windows Explorer, the thumbnail may or may not show up: usually I get the default icon. It does not matter if I select 'Medium', 'Large', or 'Extra Large' icons. If I hit F5 (refresh), they will all appear but then disappear immediately afterwards. If I hit F5 repeatedly, sometimes some of the thumbnails will 'stick' and will display properly. It's driving me whacko, so any fixes or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. PS. I have gone into Organize / Folder & Search Options / View and made sure that 'Always show icons, never thumbnails' is NOT selected. Thanks in advance! -- alfredjcrabbs ------------------------------------------------------------------------ alfredjcrabbs's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=24339 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=705320 http://forums.techarena.in |

A work around is just to add your picture folder to windows photo gallery (WPG). you can see all the thumbnails through WPG. But I am having the same problem. I am tempted to uninstall nikon. -- ryan98034 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ryan98034's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/112486.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/705320.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
