vista sometimes takes 4mins to shutdown ??
sometimes my brand new laptop takes upto 4 mins to shudown, somtimes i takes
20 seconds. any help also on boot just after the scrolling logo the screen turns off for a second the quickly flashes back on just before the logon screen....please help mark

Shut down ( do you have clear cache internet files ect deleting on shut down?

try Control Panel System Maintenance Performance Information and Tools in the left pane, Advanced tools cause of long shutdown shoule be near the top under performance issues.
