upgrading RAM

To configure Vista to use extra RAM, usually all you have to do is turn the computer on once the new memory is fitted. If you're saying this isn't working then something is wrong because this is all you have to do... there isn't a button you need to go and press to make new memory work.

Right-click on Computer on your desktop. Choose Properties. This will show
you the amount of RAM you have. If you started out with 1GB, and you added 1GB, then you should see 2GB's. It's configured automatically. "popeye" wrote in message ... I just wondered if someone could help. I increased my RAM by 1GB but don't know how to configure Vista to it. Any ideas?

First off, with your new RAM installed "right click" on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop, this should bring up the "system" page also found in the control panel. Here you can see a quick description of your PC, its performance, and its RAM. So you can see its all there. I guess we are assuming that you are running Vista 32 (x86) in which case you can probably get upto about 3G to work, though depending on other components in your system it could be as less than 1.5g! Anyway leave it at that for now and report back soon. Crimliar
