Default WMDC sync error help

I have a cingular 2125 and Vista Ultimate (final release retail version)and
cannot get sync to work. I can connect and see the files on the phone, but
get an error message "ActiveSync encountered an error on the desktop" and
syncing fails. Can you offer any help in getting syncing to work? Syncing
work fine with my phone under Windows XP. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Default WMDC sync error help

I believe the Cingular 2125 runs Windows Mobile 5.0. To sync a Windows
Mobile device with a Windows Vista PC, you need to use Windows Mobile Device
Center on the PC.

Microsoft replaced ActiveSync with Windows Mobile Device Center, an improved
version of the software for use with computers running Windows Vista. You
must use this new program to sync your Windows Mobile device in Windows
Vista. The first time you plug a Windows Mobile device into a computer that
is connected to the Internet and running Windows Vista, Windows Mobile
Device Center should automatically download and install on the computer.
After you set up your device to sync in Windows Mobile Device Center, the
sync results will appear in Sync Center.

Note: Windows Mobile Device Center does not run on Windows Mobile devices.
Windows Mobile devices still use ActiveSync.

Default WMDC sync error help

Thank you for your response. The Cingular 2125 does run Windows Mobile 5.0
and I have downloaded and am running the most recent version of WMDC and am
getting the results and error message I described in my original post. Any
suggestions as to what the problem might be or what I might try? Thanks.

Default WMDC sync error help

I wish I could tell you more, but I don't know the answer. I think they are
still working out some compatability issues with WMDC. It has to support a
lot of different Windows Mobile devices.

Default WMDC sync error help

I get the same error with my Axim x51v. Very frustrating. I believe that a
couple months ago it was working; I wonder if an Office 2003 update is the
culprit? Or maybe it's just in Ultimate?

"ActiveSync encountered an error on the desktop" and
syncing fails. - Clair - you might try using Windows Mobile Device
Center instead, you'll find it at Microsoft's download page, all you
need ot do is validate your version is 'genuine' and load it, it
actually works rather well, but a word of warning - I have Vista Home
Premium and have the same problems as those listed above in the other
entries from other members, however, at least you'll be able to sync
up, which is better than nothing. Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem. It actually worked fine until I had a Windows
update and then it stopped working.

I think the true solution is dumping Vista and going back to XP Pro at least
for me. I can;t run my budget software programs, my GF bought me a scanner
that doesn't work and a million other problems with compatibilty. I am done
with Vista, it should never have been released. Rant over

Default WMDC sync error help

I'm having similar issues with my 2125 and Vista Business.

It will connect, but only temporarily.
I has yet to sync with outlook 2007.
If I move files from/to the miniSD card then it will disconnect.
