It is a pain to create new VPN connections or open existing connections
because of the long delay (30-60 seconds) for the Connect To applet to load. Any ideas on what to do about it? |

I agree with you. I am having the same problem too. I have 18 VPN
connections. It takes at least 60 seconds for the "Connect To" dialog box to show. Why? This needs to get fixed. I do have a band-aide solution as a work around. I have stop using "Connect To" and created a short cut on my desktop to "Network Connections". Go to Control Panel and select "Manage Network Connections" Next Right click on the top address titled "network connection" and select "Copy Address". Paste this to your desktop to create a shortcut to "Manage Network Connections" Hope this helps for now. I agree have the same problem. Even when I try to connect with Network and Internet/Network connections but even then the connection is slow. When I doubleclick the VPN connection it takes up to 30-40 seconds before the screens pops up where you can push connect. In the beginning it did work fine but after a couple of weeks out of the blue it is very slow. I search everywhere for a solution but found nothing. When I push Connect to it takes up to 10 minutes before the screens appear. ![]() -- jd653687 Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

Not sure if this is the same issue, or if related, but when I click on the Network icon, it takes forever to open. I found this while Googling and it worked: Right click "Computer" Click "Manage" Under the "System Tools" section, Double click "Local Users and Groups" Click "Groups" Right click "Administrators" Click "Add to group..." Click "Add" Click "Advanced" Click "Find Now" Double click "Local Service" Click "Ok" "NT Authority\Local Service" should show up in the list now Click "Ok" Close Computer Management and reboot. -- marysmarys Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |
