Default Unable to Connect to Network Storage Device

HI, I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I've attached my Network Storage
Device(buffallo link station) to my wireless router. But i am unable to
discover/detect the device, where as i could do the same with my other laptop
which is XP Professional.

At last i connected by giving \\192.168.1.5 with credentials, but unable to
see the protected folders. I am unable to connect to protected shared
folders.

And all these are a click-away in Windows XP professional. Can any one help
me solving this problem.

Default Unable to Connect to Network Storage Device

Thanks Douglas. I will try this method today. But i resolved this problem by
modifying the registry setting. Here it is. By default Windows Vista works
with NTLMv2 Authentication and my buffalo technology link station(NAS) work
with NTLM. so i have to change the authentication level to make it
compatible.

So changed the following registry entry. "LmCompatibilityLevel" to 00000002
at [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Lsa]

I have tried all of these types of tips to get vista to backup to link
station but still no success. No username/password combination
works...I always get some kind of error, can't create the file, can't
find file, no security mapping between id's etc. Has anyone gotten a
vista system to backup to linkstation network storage?
