I currently have an XP pro computer setup as an ICS host with dialup (no broadband available at home). With my other XP computer I can enable/disable the internet gateway, which makes the XP computer dial. After it connects, I can view the connection speed by right-clicking on the internet gateway icon and selecting status. It shows the modem connection speed and how long it's been connected. It can also set a tray icon when connected. I can't find any of these options in Vista. I can enable/disable the connection, but I don't know the speed and I can't set it show a tray icon when connected. Is there any way to do this? This doesn't work well since I can't tell if the modem dropped the connection of it connected at a slow speed and I need to reconnect. I'm at wits end. -- schnikies79 |

Thats fine if I want to check my speed and connection to the gateway, but I want to check the speed and connection time of the gateway to the outside world. When I am on broadband. My router will show up as an internet gateway. I can check it and see that it connected to the net at, say 3.5mbs. When I use XP to check the gateway device, it shows the modem connection speed. Thats what I want to do. AJR;240838 Wrote: Speed and status via "view status" of connection in Network and Sharing Center. "schnikies79" wrote in message ... Hi again. Please make sure Network discovery is on in Network and Sharing
Center. If discovery is on, you should be able to go to "View computers and devices" on the left pane in Network and Sharing Center and then do the same actions on the Internet Gateway Device (which is the ICS host). I hope this helps. Thanks for your post. Gloria -- Gloria Boyer Windows User Assistance team Microsoft Corporation |
