Default Installation of Fonts

I have new pc with vista on it and downloaded and installed some fonts, but
not all of them show...i went to fontfolder and made sure i installed them
all, even selected ALL to install them but not all of them show, as a matter
of fact hardly any that i got show, is there an issue between vista and
certain fonts?

Try installing them again, one at a time. The The Add Fonts should warn you
that the font is already installed, if it is, and ask if you want to replace
it. This way, perhaps, you can test to see if maybe you missed something,
and it actually is installed. Note that the name of the file you installed
is not necessarily the same as the Font Name. For example, VeraMono.ttf
will show up in the Fonts folder as Bitstream Vera Sans Mono
