Hi,
I have problem connecting to a VPN server. I searched all over the web sites and understand that I need to open up port 1723 and ip protocol 47 on the firewall, and I know to open up the port 1723 is just using Add Port on the Windows Firewall Settings page under Exceptions. However, I don't know how to open IP Protocol 47? Some web pages said it is not a port, then how to I open that? Appreciate the help. |

You may need to set up a firewall rule with 'Windows Firewall with Advanced Security' Control Panel Administrative Tools Windows Firewall with Advanced Security Click on 'Inbound Rules' left pane Then right-click on 'Inbound Rules' New Rule.. Custom ... On the 'Protocols and ports' screen, choose 'GRE' in the 'Protocol type' dropdown box..... -- Jon |

Hi guys. Actually, you can do this through the regular Windows Firewall. On
the Exceptions tab, click "Add port" and then give it a name, put 47 as the port number, and select TCP. That should do it! Thanks for posting, Gloria -- Gloria Boyer Windows User Assistance team Microsoft Corporation |
