I'm using Vista Ultimate and need to be able to connect to it and have 100%
access to all files and folders without the need to enter in any log in information. My xbox will be streaming audio and video from the Vista Ultimate machine and I don't want to log in or worry about you can't access this file or folder messages. If I must log in then that is fine. So how can I totally open up filesharing? I want to be able to put my audio and video pretty much anywhere i want and be able to access it from my xbox. i also need to be able to access files on my 2 external usb 2.0 hard drives connected to the vista ultimate pc. |

Hi there. To do what you need, first disable password protected sharing:1.
In the Sharing and Discovery section of the Network and Sharing Center window, click the down arrow next to Password protected sharing. 2. Within the Password protected sharing settings, click Turn off password protected sharing, and then click Apply. This gives you the equivalent of simple file sharing in XP. Thanks, Gloria -- Gloria Boyer Windows User Assistance team Microsoft Corporation |

Thanks, Gloria -- Gloria Boyer Windows User Assistance team Microsoft Corporation Well in windows xp i can't do filesharing with simple filesharing enabled. I always have to disable it. so we'll see how it works for me in vista. also in vista i can not see the vista pc at all from my xbox or access any of the folders if i do see it. The only folder that might work is public, but i need it so i can access c:/ and everything in it. i also need it so i can access my external drives. i have for hard drives internal c: and e:. for external i have f: and g: I'd like them to show up with all content from all drives available to my xbox and my xp pc in the other room. i find it very confusing and difficult to do this inside vista. thank you very much for responding Gloria. |
