A work around is to setup a VPN or Secure Shell (SSH) tunnel into your office environment and access one or more Vista PCs using Remote Desktop through the VPN or SSH tunnel. Advantages include only needing to open one hole in your office firewall and the use of strong authentication. -- Al Jarvi (MS-MVP Windows Networking) Please post *ALL* questions and replies to the news group for the mutual benefit of all of us... Also, my recognition for your good job., so you are helping a lot of people like me with high quality help and effort. Thanks again. To add to my other reply you might look at the TechNet Terminal Services
page. Specifically the "Security and Protection" section. It does not directly pertain to Vista Business as the Remote Desktop host but it may be interesting reading nontheless. http://technet2.microsoft.com/window...v/default.mspx Are you in a domain environment or are you running Terminal Server on a W2K3 or W2K server? If so the microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services news group has a lot of good help. If this is a standalone desktop you want to access I have a short Vista PPTP VPN page you may be interested in. http://theillustratednetwork.mvps.or...P/PPTPVPN.html You can easily access the local network through the VPN tunnel for shared file access and Remote Desktop access. -- Al Jarvi (MS-MVP Windows Networking) This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights... I have never run across a best practice whitepaper on that issue, but that
does not mean there is not one. You might check with the folks over on the microsoft.public.windows.terminal_services news group for possible help in that area. -- Al Jarvi (MS-MVP Windows Networking) This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights...
