Default suddenly no sound

Brand-new computer w/Vista. Sound was working (but not much volume), and
suddenly now it's not. I checked through the control panel and it tells me
that the sound card is OK and everything's working -- but no sound. Speakers
are plugged in. Any suggestions?

I had an issue like that but I didn't have sound period and my issue was the
sound card was set to digitial only output (somewhere in the settings) and
my speakers are analog. Also since this is a new computer, you can get
warranty support from your vendor. I'd take advantage of that.

OK -- Not a bad suggestion, but just as suddenly I'm getting sound through
the speakers again. Go figure.
