Default Screen Resolution Changes Upon Wakeup

I am using Vista Ultimate, and after open the lid of my laptop (Dell D820,
512 MB Quadro 120M Graphics, 2 Ghz core 2 duo) and rouse the machine from
sleep, the screen resolution automatically changes from 1600x1200 to
1024x768. This happens roughly 75% of the time I do this. No pattern exists
when I wake it up from battery versus being plugged in. I found one other
post here titled "resolution problem", but no one responded to this person
(except me). Any solutions to this issue?

I don't know about the D820, but I had a simalar-ish problem on a M1210
which turned out to be caused by some Intel screen software (the M1210 has
an Intel graphics adapter). Simply stopping the Intel software from running
at start-up fixed the problem for me. For me, it only happened with the
laptop came out of sleep mode.
