Default Internet/Access

I have a new laptop with Vista Home Premium. I am trying to access the
internet without success so far.

At home, I have wireless connection to a router and, from there, cable
connection to the intenet.

At work, I have ethernet access to a corporate LAN and through the LAN to
the internet.

In both cases, I see the local network but the network map shows no
connectivty from the local network to the internet. Other machines do connect
through to the internet.

The error message, from Internet explorer, is as follows:

'go.microsoft.com' is not set up to establish a connection on port "World
Wide Web service (HTTP)" with this computer.

Any help would be appreciated
