I tried all this and ropocopy is definitely faster but not nearly as fast as
it should be. Is microsoft working on a patch for this? I see a lot of posts with this issue "Robert L [MVP - Networking]" wrote: Try this link Vista: very slow to copy large file http://www.chicagotech.net/netforums...opic.php?t=576 Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "IrishWraith" wrote in message ... thanks , i did call them and received the hotfix however it did not fix my issue. copying accross the network is still very very slow "Robert L [MVP - Networking]" wrote: Hotfix is free. What I did was install XP on the Machine and then I upgraded to Vista. For
whatever reason there is no problem copying over when I did this. I have a machine that had XP and Upgraded to Vista and no problem. However with a new machine when it comes to copying ovet the network it is very slow or just doesnt copy "IrishWraith" wrote: I have a gigabit lan and approx 10 pc's i can move files around with no problem in xp , windows 2003 server etc but when i convert one of my xp machines into vista ultimate it takes over an hour to copy 1 100mb file which takes 10 seconds on xp I have found http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/931770 which seems to be relevant to my problem, how do i get this patch without paying to call microsoft. Someone else got it and it's available from
http://www.vistasp1.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=31 However, use it at your own risk since it's not actually coming from Microsoft. -- David Dickinson eveningstar at die-spammer-die dash mvps dot org |

Hello,
If you are using a wired NIC my solutiuon was this. Set your NIC to 100 FULL DUPLEX and turn Auto Negotiation off which is one in the same. Set the NIC to Flow Control. This worked very nicely for me.
