Hi, here’s hoping you can help solve my Network problem.
When I access my correctly mapped network drive, Vista (Home Premium) asks me for my username and password even though I provided it when I mapped it originally and chose the option to “reconnect at log on”. Is there a way to for Vista to remember my password so I don’t need to do this each time, it drives me nuts! (Please subscribe to this thread so you can get updates).. Thanks in advance |

I have the same problem here. I map a network drive, but have to re-enter
the password everytime I connect. But what's worse, I can network a printer, print off of it, but if I restart or have to reconnect, I have to delete the printer and re-add it to be able to print again. I have no idea how to correct this. "Durrson" wrote: Is there a way to for Vista to remember my password so I don’t need to do this each time, it drives me nuts! |

If you cerate the same username and password in both computers, it won't ask the password any more. Or this post may help,
Vista common issue - can see but ...Vista common issue - can see but access ... So, the common issues sharing are 1) you may be able to see it but access. 2) you may be able to open it but ... http://www.chicagotech.net/netforums...opic.php?t=450 Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "TheMightyQuinn" wrote in message news

I am having the same problem as above. What happens is you sucessfully connect to share drives and NAS units using a User Name and Password, however, after rebooting, it does not retain the password thus causing you to have to re-enter everything. I am not on a domain....any suggestions? thanks. -- mgoolsby ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mgoolsby's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=31461 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=717695 http://forums.techarena.in |

Microsoft is trying the last 10 years (at least) to develop a proper OS. Those people are completely useless!!! Anyhow a solution to this problem is as follows (works in Vista): 1. map the networks driver of your desire -as usual- by right-clicking on my computer etc. 2. create an .bat file with the following content: net use \\ip-address password /user:username For instance: net use \\192.168.1.11 mypassword /user:usern_name 3. place that .bat file in the start-up directory of Windows, and thats all ! -- geolos ------------------------------------------------------------------------ geolos's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/geolos.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-v...ork/717695.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

In XP and 2000 Microsoft allowed the user to enter a different user name and password and have it saved so the user did not have to do this each time. With Vista this option is not accessible from the map network drive screen, you can use a different user name and password but the option to save it is not visible. The option is still embedded in the OS but I don't know how to make it visible. I know it still exists because when installing Peachtree part of the setup asks you to map a network drive and the option to save the user name and password is visible. -- vijer ------------------------------------------------------------------------ vijer's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/133998.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/windows-v...ork/717695.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
