Default Scanner driver installed, but TWAIN panel says "XP Only"

I had no problem installing the Windows XP driver for my USB scanner into
Vista Business 32bit. After this I tried to install the TWAIN panel, but the
software complains that it is for XP only. Running as administrator and in
compatibility mode make no difference.

The installer doesn't uncompress to the TEMP folder, or anywhere else that I
can see, so I can't try and bypass the OS check.

The scanner is a Mustek Bearpaw 1200CU USB scanner. It's a good little
scanner and I really don't want to replace it. There are no plans for Vista
drivers.

Are there generic TWAIN panels available, or must the manufacturers TWAIN
software be used?

Any suggestions on getting this working?

Noozer:
Check www.hamrick.com
They make drivers for outdated scanners.

Thanks... Unfortunately, it reports that no scanner is connected to my PC at
all.
