Default ie7 does not work, opera does

I installed Vista Ultimate over Win XP Pro (Tablet). I can not get IE7 to
work. The DNS server must connect since the address is translated to an IP
number. But no connection to any site. Many other programs do not access the
internet either. But Opera browser works fine as does Remote Desktop
Connection. Any ideas for me to try? Thanks.
